Training courses for automation technology

We are convinced that the optimum development of control software can only be achieved by combining a sound technical understanding with practical experience. However, university courses cover many topics that are not relevant in practice. Vimotech therefore optimizes the training period by concentrating on content that is actually relevant to your company.

ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING IN AUTOMATION TECHNOLOGY

Electrical engineering is one of the most important basic skills in automation technology and is therefore fundamental for PLC programming and drive technology.

Electrical engineering principles are necessary for drive technology in order to find the cause of faults. The teaching content is indispensable for this troubleshooting.

Basics of drive technology

  • Rectifier
  • Magnetization
  • Lorentz Force

Circuit diagram

  • Conventions
  • AsBuilt

PLC module wiring

  • Sensor circuits
  • Supply

Interpretation

  • Motor protection switch
  • Circuit breaker
  • Wire cross-section

Wiring of motors and inverters

  • Star / Triangle
  • Frequency Control range
  • Motor characteristic

Control systems

Depending on the complexity of the application, there are various challenges in the design and project planning of a PLC. The necessary basic knowledge is crucial for developing a clean automation solution in the long term. The result is not only reflected in lower costs due to less rework, but much more importantly in customer satisfaction.

Function and components of a PLC

  • Hardware
  • Peripheral construction
  • Process image
  • Sequence groups / cycle time

Interpretation

  • Design values
  • System design

Programming - Best Practice

  • Readable, structured and maintainable programming
  • Modularization and standardization

TIA Portal / Automation Studio

  • Overview
  • Hardware configuration
  • Concept

Network technology

  • Topology
  • TCPIP
  • Network diagnostics

Telegrams and communication

  • OPC, PVI, S7 Online
  • TCP

Drive technology

Drive technology is undoubtedly one of the most highly qualified activities in a company, as it requires a range of basic skills. The challenge here is usually not commissioning, but the correct design and troubleshooting. The interplay of mechanical, electrical and control engineering poses challenges for the technician.

Types of motors and drives

  • Asychronous machine
  • Synchronous machine (servo)
  • Stepper motors
  • Linear motors
  • Frequency inverter

Calculation and design of drive systems

  • Mechanical basics
  • Design values
  • Application of a calculation tool

Encoders and sensors

  • Types of encoders
  • Linear encoder
  • Reference sensors
  • Thermal sensors

Communication

  • Field buses,
  • Electrical interfaces (analog, digital)

Commissioning

Qualification

  • Team leader of an international team
  • Lecturer for electrical machines at the FH Wels
  • First aid instructor at the Austrian Red Cross

The quality of the training courses is based in particular on the preparation of the training courses in consultation with the customer. With the help of coordinated didactic methods, the course is adapted in such a way that the best possible teaching success is achieved.

Training courses at Vimotech

Principles

Based on many years of experience in project realization and in personal consultation with customers, Vimotech offers individual training courses according to customer requirements. The training is specifically tailored to the necessary requirements, areas of responsibility and a sensible level. This means that every training course is tailored to the customer. The aim of all training courses is to ensure that course participants are able to master and apply the knowledge imparted. This determines the type and duration of the course.
All training courses are available in English and German and in face-to-face, online or hybrid formats.

Focus

The course content, automation technology training, is primarily aimed at imparting basic knowledge. Once the practical theory has been taught, it is immediately applied to a specific project. This is discussed in advance with the course participants in order to maximize its relevance to customer needs. Depending on the agreement, the commissioning training is carried out with virtual hardware or, depending on availability, with real devices.

Procedure

Before booking a training course, the scope and content of the course will be discussed. The resulting individual course plan is offered depending on the scope and course participants.
The focus can be changed at any time as required. However, only what can realistically be taught in the given time is trained.
